One of two black plastic ashtrays, pentagon shaped, with a silver Cavalier on the front and The Pimlico Hotel Restaurant and Cavalier Lounge, 1950-1975, on the back. Unused. marked in small print on back: "HIT LINE - USA 11"
Larry Katz owned these items for 40 years, having acquired them in the 1970s. He frequented the hotel every few weeks but sometimes once a week. Thursday nights were Singles night and Larry saw actress Carol Channing at the Pimlico. Jewish people from NW Baltimore were the primary clientele. The hotel's restaurant was the place to be for athletes and politicians. Its eclectic food made it the ideal place for birthdays and anniversaries. "The food was wonderful," Larry wrote. "The menu was very large. It was truly an "in" spot back 'back in the day.'"
